NHS Supply Chain (NHSSC) has added a number of new infection prevention emergency response kits and packs to its new autumn 2010 catalogue including the new norovirus kit. The new kits have been made available as part of the framework agreement for infection prevention kits signed by GV Health and NHSSC in June 2010. A total of seven GV Health sourced kits are now available from NHSSC, including a brand new spillage cleaning kit for pathogens such as MRSA and the norovirus. Other spillage cleaning kits in the new catalogue include the hugely popular biohazard spill kit, individual cleaning packs for blood, vomit and urine spills and a cytotoxic drug spillage cleaning and disposal kit. NHSSC also now offer emergency kits addressing another important area of infection prevention - personal protective equipment. PPE kits and packs are used during major infection outbreaks such as SARS and avian flu. Packs are stored at key locations and issued emergency response teams and individuals required to maintain a high state of readiness. NHSSC's first GV Health emergency response spillage kit, for biohazard spills, was included in the catalogue as recently as April 2007. The rapid expansion of this area can be explained by the ever increasing body of evidence showing that speed of response is a major contributory factor in reducing the spread of infections. It is becoming essential for all healthcare organisations to have standards compliant spillage kits available in situ as a matter of course. GV Health have a strong record for innovation in this area. The new Norovirus Spillage Kit is a case in point. This kit uses Oxivir, a new accelerated hydrogen peroxide based disinfectant detergent effective against a wide range of pathogens such as MRSA, Hepatitis C and the norovirus. Oxivir can be used on both hard and soft surfaces and is ideal for dealing with contaminated body spillages, controlling pathogen outbreaks and cleaning high risk infection areas including carpets and soft furnishings. For GV Health the NHSSC award is a testament to the quality, efficacy and competitiveness of their range of spillage kits. Kits will be available through NHS Supply Chain's ordering and delivery channel from 15th September 2010. CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION ON GV HEALTH NOROVIRUS SPILLAGE KITS |
